Celebrate May Fourth with these Star Wars Cocktails!

Show of hands, who deems May the Fourth as a national holiday?

Well, I do… and if it’s another occasion to celebrate an entire intergalactic world that was ingeniously created and can make me feel ALL the feels, then my hand is high in the sky…. or should I say galaxy.

As some of you may know, we celebrate by having a Star Wars theme overlay at the shop. Part of our treats include house made syrups to make your own beverages and cocktails at home! (Complete with a recipe card of course!) Because I can’t think of a better evening than watching A New Hope with a tequila infused Blue Milk. Perhaps with a chocolate pretzel lightsaber in the other hand?

Let’s get this ship into hyperspace and make some cocktails!

Drink or Drink Not. There is no try.

The Sith Manhattan

When you get home from a long day of being a Sith Lord and need a drink… this one is for you.

2 ounces of bourbon or rye whiskey

1 ounce Sweet Vermouth

1 ounce Sweet Dee’s bakeshop cherry syrup

4 drops of Chocolate Bitters

Garnish: Black sugar for the rim, lightsaber cocktail picks (found on Amazon) and Hibiscus flowers.

Begin by prepping your glass! By using citrus or honey, coat the rim of your cocktail glass, and dip into sugar.

Next, take all of the ingredients listed above and pour into mixing glass or cocktail shaker. Fill with ice, stir or shake until your cocktail is chilled. Strain into glass. Garnish with hibiscus flowers and red lightsaber.

You can find a mixing glass, the cherry syrup, chocolate bitters, black cocktail sugar and hibiscus flowers on the retail shelves of our shop :)

Tatooine Sunset

This STUNNING cocktail has several parts but it’s breathtaking, delicious and absolutely worth the steps… also quite refreshing when you are embarking on the hot desert terrain of this planet.

Lemonade Base

2 ounces of lemon juice

2 ounces of water

1/4 cup sugar

Mix together until sugar is dissolved. Set aside.

Grapefruit and Prickly Pear Margarita Center

In a cocktail shaker combine 2 oz grapefruit juice, 2 oz tequila and 1 oz of our house Prickly Pear and Rose syrup. Shake well. Set aside

Butterfly Pea Tea

Brew a small bit of this beautiful tea in a separate glass with hot water. Let tea steep for 3-5 minutes. You’ll see the water dyed a deep blue. Discard the tea leaves/sachet and once again, set aside.

Now we watch the sun go down..

Fill your glass all the way up with ice. The ice helps break up the liquid when we layer all three parts to get the sunset look. tip: make sure you are pouring all three mixtures very s l o w l y!

Patience you must have, my young Padawan.

Fill your glass 1/4 of the way full with the lemonade mixture. Slowly add the next layer of grapefruit margarita, almost completely filling the glass. Leaving a little bit of room for the butterfly pea tea.

Now delicately pour your deep blue tea on the very top. Watch carefully as the deep blue tea turns a wonderful shade of purple. Enjoy before a group of Jawa’s swindle this right out of your hands.

Blue Milk

This sweet, tropical blue delight will have you feeling like you just walked into the Black Spire Outpost and headed straight for Oga’s Cantina!

2 oz pineapple juice

1 oz lime juice

2 oz tequila

2 oz Sweet Dee’s blue vanilla bean syrup

2 oz light canned coconut milk

Shake ingredients with ice in cocktail shaker. Pour into glass with fresh ice. Garnished with fresh pineapple chunks and Lotus Root infused with Butterfly Pea Tea

You can find the Cocktail Lotus root garnishes on the retail shelves at the shop :)

Jedi mind trick

IMG_2268.jpg

A Jedi version of the classic Whiskey Sour!

The Mind Trick for me is adding blue syrup and the cocktail turns in to a stunning vibrant green color! Essentially the same color as Yoda’s lightsaber. Who doesn’t want to toast to the greatest Jedi Master?

2 oz bourbon

2 oz blue vanilla syrup

1 oz lemon juice

2 drops of aromatic bitters

1 Egg white

Pour ingredients in to cocktail shaker. Shake VERY well, so your egg white froths up nicely. Add ice, shake once.. or twice more. Pour into cocktail glass. Garnish with blue or green lightsaber and lemon peel.

A Galaxy Far, Far Away

I’m ending our lovely intergalactic journey together with this one.

Once you shake up this cocktail and pour it into your glass, you WILL see the entire galaxy in your cocktail.

No, that doesn’t mean you’ve had too many ;) It’s just that amazing!

A take on the classic Aviation cocktail.

2 oz gin

1 oz Prism powder infused Violet Cocktail Syrup

1/2 oz Maraschino Liquor

1 oz fresh lemon juice

Shake ingredients with ice in cocktail shaker. Strain into glass. Occasionally stir while you sip to see the magic of the galaxy dance upon your drink once more. The force is strongest with this drink.
